Our Sweet, Sweet Evelyn

Today has been a day of mixed emotions for me. Evelyn has always had some type of skin irritation, and we've taken her to the Dr countless times. Each time the Dr would send us away saying it was excema and would give us cream. After a short while, we knew in our hearts that we were not dealing with excema, we had an idea it was related to environmental allergies-everyone we saw would say no, it is excema. Fast forward almost 3 years and finally we were told the Dr's here cannot do anything more to treat her, and they send us to a dermatologist. Finally, we felt like we were getting somewhere, so we book the dermatologist appointment, but of course, our wait was almost 1 month away.

Today we go and see the Dr and sure enough, he asks us if we've had Evelyn tested for allergies! So, the Dr sends us away with an antibiotic and some cream and suggested we go and see an allergist (little did he know we already have the authorization in place, we just are waiting for Evelyn to turn 3 to see this allergist) So now, I feel like we are on our way to having a diagnosis for Evelyn, and even better, treatment for her.

While I am very happy to finally be getting somwhere, my heart aches that we've had to wait this long. There have been countless days of her crying that she hurts, countless days of her having open, bleeding sores.

It is my prayer that once Evelyn has been diagosed, and treated we'll be able to walk forward and not look back. It is my prayer that the hurt she has felt for so long will be of the past, and she won't remember any part of this long, drawn out ordeal.
