Time For An Update(s)

Well, let's see.

We made it through our first 2 week Spring Break. We *thought* Dylan would be going to a particular school, called them first thing Mon am and were told we would send Dylan to another school. We call that school, they confirm we're at the right school, come in and register. So we get Dylan to his school, he meets his teacher and gets settled right in. The VERY next day his school calls and says that they made a mistake and we have to pull him out and register him in the correct school. This blew us away-3 different elementary schools within half a mile of our home! We stand firm and say no, that Dylan will be staying where he's at (due to their error) and we'll enroll him in the correct school for next year. The Principal agrees with us. Dylan is adjusting well to his class. He's been there just 4 days and he brings home a 100% on his spelling test as well as 6/6 on an oral test on how to spell sight words. He was so proud (and worked so hard!) that we put his papers on the fridge to remind him of how his hard work paid off.

This last week the base called us and offered us a brand new 2000 sq ft, 4 bedroom, 2 1/2 half, 2 car garage on base. Don and I talked about it, and contacted our landlord. We take the keys to the new house on May 8, and our landlord has graciously let us out of our 12 month lease a mere 9 days after we signed it without penalties! We felt really bad about putting our landlord in this position, but with Don leaving the country for months at a time we knew we HAD to take this house. As a family of 6, we just couldn't stand to live in a 1300 sq ft, 3 bedroom 2 bath home for more then 12 mos, so this is the right move for our family.

Don is continuing to get used to his new work. He's working with airman he taught in Tx (not really sure why, I just never thought that would happen) Don's work is in an old bomb shelter/storage so we don't talk at all during the day. It's been a small adjustment not having him come home for lunch everyday.

Evelyn is still suffering from her skin allergies. We take her in to the Dr tomorrow. She's scratching so bad she's making herself bleed. I'm taking her pants she bled in to show the Dr how bad she scratches/bleeds to show how BAD this is. Evelyn has become quite the little dancer. Whether it's a cartoon, commercial or music she'll dance and she doesn't care if anyone is watching.

Brooklyn is doing well. When we registered Dylan in school there was a wait list for pre k so it's been a bit of an adjustment for her to stay at home all day. We keep busy with coloring, reading books, playing house etc Brooklyn has discovered BRAIDS and loves to have her hair braided. She looks pretty darn cute with her hair braided.

Joslyn is still Jo. She's starting to talk more and more. My least favorite word she uses is 'No' I cannot believe in just 2 months she'll be 2! Where does the time go!?

Church. We have visited two different churches since being in Tucson. We tried out a planter church called Revolution. We meet on Sat nights at 5, and we enjoy it. Revolution is small, their congregation is about 50 people, something we've never dealt with as far as church size. We went and visited another church, Pantano Christian on Sun am and while we enjoyed it too, we didn't enjoy sitting on bleachers for service. We ended up going back to Revolution this past Sat and again we enjoyed it. We tried a different service at Pantano (instead of Sun am, we tried Sunday pm) this service is geared more toward the 20-30 age group, while we enjoyed it, it did make for a late night for our kids. I personally like the evening service(s) while Don thinks its better for our kids to go to church on Sun am so it doesn't make for late nights. Eventually we'll know where we are to go, so there is peace in that.

I went and visited a Ladies Bible Study on base last week. It's held at the Chapel and it was very nice. This group reminded me alot of the group I was active in at Tx. I've never heard of Protestant Women of The Chapel, but after researching it, I found that it is known world wide. It's nice to be with a group of Christian women who are just like me.

So, that is the recap of what's been keeping us busy. The weather has been amazing-70-80's and sunny!

We are SO happy to be in Az. We are enjoying every minute of it (so far!)
